Samar Singh

Hi, I am Sam and I am a copywriter. My first gig was at a small shop in Ahmedabad, India. On my first day, I hung up this poster on my bedroom wall and went in ready to make good work. Got my first promotion by the end of that month. Much to my dismay, I soon found out that my boss’s idea of employee recognition was to fly us to Thailand and buy us lap dances.

My second boss was much nicer until she asked me to write essays for her kid’s college application to the US. Feeling frustrated, I went home, and in true cinematic fashion, stared at Menno Kluin’s face on my bedroom wall and vowed to get hired at the best agencies on the planet one day. 

I saved money and came to Miami Ad School, Germany in 2017. I visited museums in Italy, got into German techno, and took up improv and spinning. Looking back, that was the best decision ever. When I thought life couldn’t get any better, I got a job in Los Angeles. I leveled up hard after that. My day involved writing TV scripts for our LA office, reacting to Cardi B on Tiktok for our mates in New York and adding activation ideas to a pitch deck for our team in Amsterdam. I even got to work on Madison Avenue and met up with Menno Kluin, the star of my bedroom wall. He told me I was a good writer while I wondered to myself if all Dutch people were this tall. 

Unfortunately, 2024 happened and life brought me back to earth. I got laid off and, if that wasn’t bad enough, I was also made to leave the US and give up the life I had built for myself. The last few months have not been good for my anxiety, but they have made me a kinder and more empathetic person than before. And hella resilient. Watch me as I put up a new poster on my wall and go after my dreams once again.
